<FONT COLOR="#AA0000">■ 內容簡介</FONT> The seed for this book was planted over ten years ago, when we two began seriously to view, compare, and discuss Ch's Pai-shih's paintings. We started with the collection belonging to Fang-yu and his wife (Sum Wai), from which the plates in this volume were eventually selected, and we searched for and looked up a large number of printed albums as well as other private collections. Hence the discussion is always focused on the painting itself and its relation to the artist and his other works. Fang-yu wrote the Chinese text, and Kai-yu, the English, but we shared all materials, notes, and thoughts. The result is what we have always wanted-a volume withe two parallel texts which are not word-for-word translations. All the essential information has been incorporated in both, but each text has been able to maintaion its own stylistic integrity proper to its languges. Unless otherwise noted, the paintings were photographed by ourselves. For those long sessions in Fang-yu's house, often days at a stretch, Kai-yu owes much ot the companionship and hospitality of his host and hostess.
