路易士‧卡洛爾 Lewis Carroll

路易士‧卡洛爾(Lewis Carroll)本名查理士‧道格森(Charles Dodgson)是一名數學家、邏輯學家，也是一位作家，於牛津大學基督學院畢業後，留在母校擔任數學講師。興趣是邏輯猜謎及數學研究。最著名的作品為《愛麗絲夢遊仙境》及《愛麗絲鏡中奇遇》(Through the Looking-Glass)，其中1865年的《愛麗絲夢遊仙境》為其成名作。

卡洛爾為母校院長的女兒編寫的故事，原名為《愛麗絲地底探險記》(Alice’s Adventure Underground)，是《愛麗絲夢遊仙境》最早的雛形。重新改寫之後，在1865年，以書名《愛麗絲夢遊仙境》問世，造成轟動，風靡百餘年之後的今天，《愛麗絲夢遊仙境》依然是童話中的不朽經典。

Lewis Carroll (1832-1898) is an English author, mathematician, logician, and photographer. His most famous writings are Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass. Many people have seen Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as a prime example of the limit-breaking book from the old tradition illuminating the new one.
