羅傑．史庫頓

1944年生，為知名的文化評論家、小說家、演說家與哲學家。自1995年於倫敦大學柏德貝克(Birdbeck)學院退休前，一直在學術機構任教，歷任劍橋、倫敦、波士頓、普林斯頓、史丹福及魯汶等知名大學教授，不但在政治思想領域具有重要地位，也是廣播界的名人。Roger Scruton教授著作等身，文章發表不知凡幾。已出版的中譯本包括《尖嘴薄舌的對話》(Xanthippic Dialogues)、《現代哲學》(Modern Philosophy)和《動物的對與錯》(Animal Rights ＆ Wrongs)、《聰明人的哲學指南》(The Intelligent Person’s Guide to Modern Culture)、《新馬十大西想家評界》(Thinkers of the Nen Left)、《斯賓諾莎》(Spinoza)、《康德》(Kant)等。近期重要著作包括The West and the Rest(ISI Books and Continuum, 2002)、Death Devoted Heart: Sex and the Sacred in Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde( Oxford University Press,2003)、News from Somewhere(Continuum, 2004)、Gentle Regrets–Thoughts from a Life(Continuum,2005)。
